History

A commerce raider with a displacement of just 10,000 tons, she gained fame as a “Pocket Battleship.” Boasting more robust armour than her counterparts, she was also the first German vessel equipped with a type of radar. From September to December 1939, she targeted allied vessels in the South Atlantic and Indian Ocean, sinking nine ships with a combined tonnage of 50,089.
