History
HMS Victory was launched on 7th May 1765 and rose to prominence as Admiral Nelson’s flagship during the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar. This victory thwarted Napoleon’s ambitions for naval dominance, though it claimed Nelson’s life.
Before this, she participated in numerous significant engagements against Spanish and French fleets. Today, she remains the oldest commissioned ship in the Royal Navy, serving as the flagship of Portsmouth Command. Restored to her Trafalgar-era condition, she is displayed in Portsmouth, attracting visitors worldwide.
