The Volkswagen Golf is a production icon of the Wolfsburg car manufacturer. It was introduced in the spring of 1974 and immediately became a very successful product. The first series (1974-1983) in fact adopted technical solutions highly appreciated by the market of the time: water-cooled front engine, front-wheel drive, solid and robust bodywork with a functional but at the same time attractive design. The good quality / price ratio was the real “competitive lever” that made the Golf successful. At the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1975, the sporty version of the Golf GTI was presented, which adopted the 110 bhp 1,600 cc engine capable of delivering high performance.
